PEAK PERFORMANCE UNDER PRESSURE
Anyone who has ever tried to achieve, at any age, in any walk of life, is very well aware of what the pressure of performance can do to well established skills and abilities.
However what is less well understood is the fact that a survival mechanism exists, which is triggered by the stress of high pressure situations.
The natural expression of this reflex is to establish negative and limiting responses to pressure, rather than successful and empowering responses. This is because actions which help us to live through negatively stressful situations, have very powerful survival value to us as individuals.
If we understand this survival mechanism, we can make use of it to establish our own desired successful responses to high pressure situations.

What the experts say about Imprints for Success
"Finally, a book that gives us the facts instead of the fads on achieving authentic success. I know the authors up front,
close and personal and they offer proven methods of achievement that really work. Read, understand and internalize.
You'll live by choice, not by chance!"
Dr. Denis Waitley,
author "The Psychology of Winning"
and "Seeds of Greatness."
Learning to control and channel your thoughts and emotions in a correct manner is the foundation of any type of success. I have always been reluctant to use mechanisms that helped me mentally because I have always been a big believer in ones own mental ability to overcome any obstacle However, I have found Dr Flynn's techniques and clinical experience will give anybody who is willing, the skills and confidence to achieve and maximise their potential.

Reigning Olympic and World champion
‘The beauty of the Imprints for Success approach lies in its simplicity. In the past I have been notorious for over-thinking my challenges before I meet them, which wastes nervous energy and can take the edge off of performance. They say “over-analysis leads to paralysis” and I couldn’t agree more.
The Imprints for Success approach emphasises very simple but effective cues which trigger new patterns of learned behaviour. These cues can be used anywhere – before an exam, a big meeting, or in my case, sitting behind the blocks before the biggest race of my life! The best part of the approach is that there really is very little thinking involved – once the patterns become learned they are “imprinted” in the mind. By the time the big challenge comes around (whatever that may be) you will feel more confident and worthwhile in your own abilities without even having to think about it.’

The Control Your Nerves audio series is a part of the more detailed Imprints for Success pathway and provides in essence a "quick fix" if such a thing exists for performance related anxiety or nerves. While a small amount of nervous excitement enhances performance, excessive nervous tension can be extremely detrimental to peak performance in any field, including the classroom, the sports arenas, the public speaking platforms and the boardrooms.
The Control Your Nerves audio series is extremely effective and may be all that you require to solve whatever it is that is holding you back from achieving your goals. However, you may also wish to proceed in your own time, to the more advanced problem solving and performance enhancing skills detailed in the Imprints for Success textbook and the audios contained in the Creative Problem Solving sections of the website.

Performance pressure in any area of human endeavour including Sport, Business, or Study and Exams, can adversely affect us in several different ways.
- The pressure can make it difficult to think clearly, affecting logical reasoning and problem solving abilities.
- The pressure causes physical effects such as muscle tension, nausea sweaty palms, weakness and difficulty controlling breathing. These effects have clear implications for peak performance in many different areas of achievement.
- Perhaps most importantly, the natural chemicals and hormones that the brain and body produce under pressure, or stress, also influence memory, including the so called muscle memory. This can then establish a level of performance which is then repeated under similar circumstances.
It is then possible for this Performance Memory or what I like to call IMPRINT, to be repeated, whenever the levels of stress or pressure are high enough, or to put it more simply, whenever the result of the performance is important enough.
Although the natural expression of this mechanism is to develop negative responses to pressure, it is eminently possible to access these processes and use them powerfully and positively, to ENHANCE the response to the pressures of peak performance. In other words, it is possible to use this mechanism to create your own desired responses to particular situations.
Over the coming months, this section of the website will deal with explaining how these imprints develop naturally and how we can alter negatively established imprints and establish our own, desired peak performance imprints for any situation, whether it be sporting, business or academic.
The IMPRINTS series will consist of ebooks and audio (CDs and /or MP3 downloads) under the following titles:
• Basic Imprints
• Advanced Imprints
• Creative Problem Solving
• Business Imprints
• Sporting Imprints
• Golfing Imprints
• Study and Exam Imprints |
